About Our Campaign

For decades, our communities have called on funders to live up to their highest values. To act boldly, move money swiftly, and put faith in a vision of the world that centers justice, builds right relationships, and supports an inclusive democracy and more equitable economy.  

Frontline communities are under duress. Authoritarian attacks on basic civil liberties are on the rise. We’re losing access to needed government services that save lives. And too many of us live in fear of criminalization or violence simply for existing as our full selves. 

It’s important to see clearly in times like these. Most of these struggles are not fundamentally new. Our work towards a better world has always faced distractions, the legacy of unjust systems, and powerful actors who abuse public trust. The only effective responses have always required leaders to come together and organize for collective action.  

This Level Up campaign, then, is about more than a single dire moment. It’s about honoring the generations of work and advocacy before us, and the generations to come. It’s about choosing to take the next step on the path to level up our practices, behaviors and norms It’s time to level up for new normal in the philanthropic sector. This is a call chance to level up commitments – especially to the communities from whom so much philanthropic wealth was derived in the first place. 

After all, even in our darkest moments, we get to choose how we respond. We choose how we show up in solidarity with one another.
